After the terrorist attack in Bangladesh's capital Dhaka, once again Muslim cleric Dr. Zakir Naik is in controversy. Criticism of religions other than Islam is Naik's nature. He changes the mind of Muslim youth by insulting Hindu deities in his speech. There has also been talking about promoting fundamentalism by misinterpreting the verses of the Gita.
Dr. Zakir Naik, a favorite of Muslim youth, once lived in a small junkyard-like house in the streets of Bhendi Bazaar in South Mumbai. But, by propagating Islam with a fundamentalist mindset, he has earned so much wealth and fame that today he lives in a luxurious Kothi on Nepeansee Road, a very posh area of Mumbai.
Dr. Naik is the founder of an Islamic channel called Peace TV which is broadcast in many countries. Born on 18 October 1965, Zakir had memorized the verses of the Quran in his childhood. After that, he studied medicine.
He laid the foundation of an Islamic school in Dongri with the help of his father Abdul Karim Naik. Dr. Zakir's father was known to be the great leader of Maharashtra Sharad Pawar and former Chief Minister late Abdul Rehman Antulay.
On the strength of this Zakir's Islamic school came into existence. After that, he opened many madrasas. Establishing the Islamic Research Foundation in 1991, he started training radicalization of Muslim youth in madrassas.
After that Zakir started calling himself a scholar of Islam within a few days. In this way, the religious circle of Zakir grew. He has delivered more than two thousand lectures in more than 30 countries in the last 20 years.
Aziz Ejaz, the senior Urdu journalist, says that Zakir, who gave Islamic lectures, started receiving large sums of money from Islamic countries like Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, etc. After that, he established himself as an Islamic religious leader.
